R.I. lawmakers promise careful review of Hagel’s proposal to cut defense budget

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Three members of Rhode Island’s congressional delegation said Monday that they plan to carefully review Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel’s proposal to trim the defense budget by shrinking the Army to its smallest size since 1940.
