Being a parent is one of the most important jobs there is and I am especially grateful to my Dad for all he has done for me in my life and for being such a great Dad!  I hope you will take the time today to pause and thank fathers for all the important work they do and to honor your father or grandfather.   

On this Father’s Day, we should be especially grateful to the fathers who serve our country in uniform and are overseas and away from their families in order to protect our freedom.  Thank you for your sacrifice.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) today voted against the Fiscal Year 2015 Transportation-Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations bill, which would make devastating cuts to transportation and housing investments across the nation.  The controversial measure narrowly passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 229 to 192.

Cicilline (D-RI), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, today introduced legislation that would help keep guns away from dangerously mentally-ill individuals.  Specifically, the End the Purchase of Firearms by Dangerous Individuals Act would ensure lifesaving information is submitted into the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to keep firearms away from individuals with a mental illness who are a danger to themselves and others.

Euart Post 602 Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Pawtucket to discuss recent events surrounding the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and other issues important to Rhode Island’s veterans.

PAWTUCKET, RI - Following reports on allegations that veterans’ are being made to wait months for health care services at two VA healthcare facilities in Arizona and Colorado, U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) expressed his concern in a letter to the Providence VA Medical Center Director Dr. Susan MacKenzie about the allegations of misconduct and urged the Director to conduct a full evaluation of the Providence VA scheduling and office wait list procedures.  Text of the letter follows:
