Working Hard for Rhode Island

It has been my honor to serve the women, men, and families of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District. These have been extremely difficult times for our state and nation, and I am working hard every day to deliver results for Rhode Islanders. Whether it is advocating for federal funding to help Rhode Island recover from this pandemic, championing infrastructure investments that create good paying jobs in our state, leading the fight to combat corporate monopolies, end price gouging, and provide relief to consumers, fighting for the priorities that reflect our shared values, or helping constituents secure the benefits they’ve earned and deserve – I am grateful for the opportunity to be there for Rhode Islanders. I humbly ask for your support so we can continue this work together. – David N. Cicilline, Member of Congress

WASHINGTON, DC -- Not everyone recognizes the sheer volume of LUST in Rhode Island -- or sees that it can be hazardous to public health.  And while not all LUST is visible or above ground, it’s important to be responsible, proactive, and vigilant when it comes to addressing the issue of Leaking Underground Storage Tanks (LUST). The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management’s (DEM) Office of Waste Management maintains an inventory of LUST sites and registered underground storage tanks (UST) facilities, which includes information on abandoned, in use, permanently closed, and temporarily closed USTs.

The Reed-Cicilline earmark builds on previous federal grants directed toward the project, including $550,000 in American Rescue Plan Act spending and a $295,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) award that was set aside in 2021, bringing the total federal funding commitment for the project to $1.14 million.
