Cicilline (D-RI), senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and House Judiciary Committee, today announced that he is working on new war crimes legislation. During a House Foreign Affairs Committee markup, the Congressman explained that this new legislation would allow the United States to hold perpetrators who commit war crimes or crimes against humanity accountable in U.S. courts.

Cicilline (D-RI) yesterday joined with Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Congressmen Hank Johnson (D-GA), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Mike Quigley (D-IL), and Mondaire Jones (D-NY) in introducing the Twenty-First Century Courts Act, a robust legislative plan to promote accountability and increase transparency in the federal courts. This legislation aims to restore Americans’ trust in their justice system by directly addressing the public’s concerns about judicial conduct—including by requiring the Supreme Court to issue a code of conduct for its justices. The 21st Century Courts Act includes Congressman Cicilline's Judicial Travel Accountability Act.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus Chair David Cicilline (RI-01) and Co-Chairs Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18), Mark Pocan (WI-02), Mondaire Jones (NY-17), and Ritchie Torres (NY-15) met with President Biden and senior administration officials at the White House to discuss the Equality Act and other LGBTQ+ issues facing the country. This meeting marks the first time the Congressional Equality Caucus has ever met with any President of the United States since the Caucus’s founding in 2008. In today’s meeting, Congressional Equality Caucus leadership discussed a variety of topics with the President and senior administration officials, highlighting the urgent need for Senate action on the Equality Act and to get nondiscrimination protections for millions of LGBTQ+ Americans signed into law.

The event serves as an annual celebration of local women, their accomplishments and contributions to Rhode Island, and benefits Congressman Cicilline's reelection campaign.
