It has been my honor to serve the women, men, and families of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District. These have been extremely difficult times for our state and nation, and I am working hard every day to deliver results for Rhode Islanders. Whether it is advocating for federal funding to help Rhode Island recover from this pandemic, championing infrastructure investments that create good paying jobs in our state, leading the fight to combat corporate monopolies, end price gouging, and provide relief to consumers, fighting for the priorities that reflect our shared values, or helping constituents secure the benefits they’ve earned and deserve – I am grateful for the opportunity to be there for Rhode Islanders. Washington, D.C. – The Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus applauds Equality Caucus Co-Chair Sharice Davids (KS-03) for introducing the Pride in Mental Health Act. This bill, which was endorsed by the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, would create a new program at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to assess and improve LGBTQ+ youth mental health and would amend the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act to address and improve data collection related to LGBTQ+ child abuse and neglect, among other provisions.

Washington, D.C. – The Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus applauds the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation in their programs, including in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

"The blatant antisemitism in recent comments by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is appalling but sadly not surprising. Lavrov, Vladimir Putin, and the Russian regime are doing everything they can to divert attention from their unprovoked, unlawful invasion of Ukraine and the failings of their military in the face of a heroic Ukrainian response.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, Representatives David N. Cicilline (RI-01), Gwen Moore (WI-04), and John Katko (NY-24), were joined by 46 of their colleagues in urging the House Appropriations Committee to allocate $90 million in FY 2023 funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention program and $460 million for lead activities at the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes.   “Every Rhode Islander deserves – and has the right to – a safe, lead-free home,” said Rep. Cicilline. “With this funding, we will be able to expand the CDC’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention program to more communities and ensure that HUD has the resources it needs to keep all our children safe.”
