Cicilline Thanks Rhode Islanders Following Re-Election

PROVIDENCE – U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01) issued the following statement tonight:

“Thank you to every Rhode Islander who made their voice heard and took part in this election. Our democracy only works when people show up and exercise their most fundamental right – the right to vote. At a time when our democracy is increasingly under threat from within, I am so deeply proud that in Rhode Island, no matter your political party, we respect and accept the legitimate results of this free and fair election.”

“I thank every Rhode Islander who put their trust in me to serve another two years in Congress and vow to represent every single person who calls Rhode Island’s First Congressional District home. I remain as committed as ever to delivering results for working Rhode Islanders — from fighting to lower costs at a time when folks are feeling the pain of inflation, to protecting reproductive rights and expanding civil rights protections to all Americans, protecting our communities by addressing the epidemic of gun violence, and so much more.”

“I look forward to continuing this critical work, particularly in the final weeks of this session of Congress. And, I look forward to working with my friend Seth Magainzer as, together, we fight to lower costs and grow our economy, defend the freedoms and protections we hold so dear, and ensure our democracy remains stronger than ever.”
