Cicilline Statement on Release of So-Called Nunes “Memo”

Friday, February 2, 2018

PAWTUCKET – U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01), who serves on the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees, issued the following statement today:

“The President and House Republicans continue in their campaign to undermine the Special Counsel’s investigation by attacking the FBI and the Department of Justice. This so-called ‘memo’ purports to be a summary of intelligence reports. In fact, it is a collection of phony talking points designed to protect Donald Trump at all costs. Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for participating in this campaign to undermine the good men and women of the FBI.”

“Republicans may be trying to pull off an enormous fraud today, but the American people are smarter than Republicans think. They are going to see through this attempt to obstruct justice and undermine the Special Counsel’s investigation. Democrats will make sure the American people know the whole truth about this so-called ‘memo.’”
