Cicilline Statement on the Trump Administration’s Newest Attack on Women and LGBTQ Americans

PAWTUCKET – Democratic Policy and Communications Committee Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01), who also serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, released the following statement today after the Trump administration announced plans yesterday to roll back protections for women and LGBTQ Americans that are employed by federal contractors:

“President Trump has shown time and time again that he has no regard for the diversity that makes our nation so strong. Rather than create an environment that works for everyone, this administration has implemented harmful policies that only seek to elevate one group of Americans at the expense of others.”

“This action yesterday is no different. The administration should immediately reconsider this harmful policy, and the President should call on Mitch McConnell to bring up the Equality Act for a vote in the Senate.”

“It’s time to ensure that all Americans are treated fairly under the law regardless of who they are or who they love.”
