Cicilline Endorsed By Building & Construction Trades

Thursday, October 22, 2020

PAWTUCKET, RI – The Rhode Island Building & Construction Trades Council announced their endorsement of Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01), who is running for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Representative Cicilline’s record demonstrates he is a champion for the middle class. We know he will fight for good middle class union jobs for our members,” said Council President, Michael F. Sabitoni.

As a member of House Leadership, Cicilline helped craft the For The People agenda - a key pillar of which focuses on raising wages by rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure. Cicilline recognizes the importance of making critical investments in our roads, bridges, ports, and schools to help strengthen the economy and improve quality of life.

In Congress, Cicilline fought for House passage of the Moving Forward Act, a $1.5 trillion initiative that would improve our nation’s infrastructure while creating millions of good-paying jobs for-hardworking families.  Aside from pushing for robust infrastructure investments, Cicilline is a strong supporter of increasing the federal minimum wage and has fought to protect collective bargaining.

“I’m proud to be endorsed by the Rhode Island Building & Construction Trades Council,” said Cicilline. “While President Trump has failed on his campaign promises of enacting an infrastructure package and improving the lives of working families, House Democrats have delivered. We’ve passed legislation to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour and to protect union members’ right to organize. I stand strongly with the working men and women of Rhode Island, and I will continue to fight for them in Washington.”

The Rhode Island Building & Construction Trades Council is a coalition of seventeen local trade unions with over 10,000 members in and around the State of Rhode Island.

Cicilline represents the First Congressional District of Rhode Island and is running for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.
