U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) today issued the following statement on President Barack Obama's State of the Union Speech:

"Tonight, President Obama laid out a clear set of proposals that will help strengthen the middle class, grow our economy, and ensure that all Americans who play by the rules have an equal opportunity to succeed.   

"The President's agenda would make targeted investments in infrastructure, manufacturing, job training, and early childhood education.  This is a commonsense, practical approach that will create jobs, close the skills gap, and help U.S. businesses compete in today's global economy.
