Cicilline Statement on Federal Funding, Hurricane Relief

Friday, September 8, 2017

PAWTUCKET – U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) issued the following statement today:

“I’m pleased that Democrats successfully led this week’s effort to keep the government open and provide critical relief for victims of Hurricane Harvey. This is how government should work for the people it serves.”

“At the same time, we know that there is much more work left to be done. This includes passing the Dream Act to protect nearly 1,300 young Rhode Islanders who are working, studying, and contributing to our community. In addition, we need to pass an infrastructure bill that rebuilds our crumbling roads and deteriorating bridges, create good-paying jobs that reward honest work with a living wage, and ensure the federal government can continue to provide essential services across our country. It’s critical that we remain focused on this work.”
