Cicilline Statement on Comey Memo

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

WASHINGTON - Democratic Policy and Communications Committee Co-Chair David N. Cicilline (D-RI) issued the following statement tonight after the New York Times reported that then-FBI Director James Comey recorded in a memo last February that President Trump asked him to drop his investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn:

“If true, this is yet another sign that Donald Trump is dangerously unfit for office. I'm pleased that Senator Lindsey Graham has now invited James Comey to share his story publicly. This is long overdue.”

“Obstruction of justice is a serious offense. The American people deserve to know if the President has committed that crime. But that will only happen if Congressional Republicans put our country ahead of their political party. I will continue to press for answers and full accountability from President Trump and his administration.”
